Sadly the next few years will prove me right - a movement like Signer 57 is needed.

Look no further than the Patriot Act originated, DHS cemented and newly minted Bureau of Disinformation. At present this Bureau is on pause but most will understand the formality of this bureau matters not.

We don’t need names on doors in the wing of an alphabet agency building to know this insidious act of throttling speech, thought and information is already in place in our society. 

I was very vocal in my friend circle years ago that the Patriot Act was a terrible piece of legislation in our history. We knew the enemy, we knew the tactics - why the need for such sweeping and broad legislation?

The Patriot Act made the Signers twist in their graves.

And now 21 years later we have a soon to be Bureau of Disinformation to control speech.

This is dangerous: no free democracy remains free for long with such a department in existence within its government.

Free speech is meant to be untouched - even heinous, ugly, hurtful speech even when I disagree with it 100% and those who speak it, I won’t tread on their right. The slippery slope is too steep, slick and perilous at the top for our government to play judge, jury and executioner on this topic.

The idea that the government can manage this topic effectively, safely, legally and within the bounds of civil liberty is laughable.

So when the time comes will you proudly wear your badge of honor? Freely speak your mind even if it means being labeled, marked, put on a list, censored, doxxed, or visited? 

Put what is right - the liberty and freedom of free speech - on the line and protect it for you, your children and those to come. I hope you will, as I will.
